Subscriptions

The Subscriptions team provides an efficient, innovative and effective service for all of the processes involved in the life cycle of the Library’s subscriptions from ordering and negotiation to processing print items. This involves price/deal/licence negotiations connected to renewing and new subscriptions including datasets. Our team is also responsible for collating data connecting to our subscriptions and for the annual content spending review. We collaborate with COLIM, Jisc, RLUK, UKSG, amongst others to ensure that Manchester’s voice is brought to the foreground.

Subscriptions and Negotiation Officer 

Supports the Subscriptions manager with subscription price/deal negotiations, publisher liaison, licence handling and Open Access deals. This role exploits Manchester’s role as sector leading research library in the north looking at the future of publishing and the landscape of post Transitional deals.

Subscriptions Team Leader

Supports the Subscriptions manager in the delivery of services relating to the subscriptions lifecycle and ensures a high level of customer service. Line management of the Subscription Co-ordinator and Subscriptions Assistant. Also plays a key role in the accessibility project ensuring the resources we purchase meet the highest accessibility standards.

Subscriptions Data Analyst

Supporting the Subscriptions Team and CSD with descriptive analytics to facilitate evidence based/purchasing decisions. Collaborating both internally and externally (e.g. COLIM) to ensure readiness for the landscape of post Transitional deals.

Subscription Co-ordinator

Supports the Subscriptions Team Leader in the delivery of services relating to the provision of print and electronic resources. Supervises the Subscriptions Assistant to ensure that the Subscriptions service runs efficiently and effectively with a strong customer and sustainability focus. They also work two days a week with the Office for Open Research supporting with OA article payments and admin support.

Subscription Assistant

Assistance with all aspects of Subscriptions work; orders, cancellations, claims and checking-in journals, invoices payment, journal claims, Open Access payments, accessibility checking, e-resource journal availability and e-book ordering.
