Accessibility

Ensuring that online Library interfaces are accessible to all users and meet government requirements.

As a Library and University, we are committed to making the information and resources that we provide via the web accessible to all users, regardless of disability, background or technology.

This focus on accessibility supports the heart of the University of Manchester strategic plan, ‘Our people, our values’:

  • Equality, diversity and inclusion
  • An environment and facilities to support our people

UK regulations

From September 2021, all public sector organisations (including the Library and University) have had a legal duty to make sure web content and apps meet accessibility requirements.

As content providers, it is our duty and legal responsibility to ensure that our online interfaces are accessible to all and meet the international WCAG 2.1 AA standard
