Welcome to the Renold Building. As a new innovation hub and office space, we are committed to providing a welcoming and accessible environment for all our visitors, tenants, and staff. This guide outlines the accessible facilities and routes available to help you plan your visit.
- The Renold Building is an office building on seven levels. There are three main lifts in a central core lift lobby next to our cafe space and 2 staircase access options
- The floors are signed as Lower Ground (LG), UG (Ground Level - Level 1 on the lift buttons), Levels 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Location
We are located approximately five minutes from Manchester Piccadilly Station and the building can be accessed via Altrincham Street or Sackville Street. Below is a map of the location including taxi drop off location and nearest NCP car park:

Public transport
Manchester Piccadilly is the closest Station where you can access train, trams and the Free No.2 city centre Bus Route which stops close to Renold at the bust stop close to the Sheena Simon Campus (Stop EU)
The closest bus stop is the University of Manchester Stop ID: MANTWMJP where the 147 West Didsbury/Manchester Piccadilly bus route stops. This is two minutes from the building.
On-site car parking
We have limited on-site parking, guests are advised to use the NCP car park at Circle Square (on the map). We do have allocated parking for blue badge holders which can be found at the arches car park entered through the barrier at The Gatehouse (M1 3NJ)
- Blue Badge Parking: We have five dedicated Blue Badge holder bays at the arches car park next to The Gatehouse
- Booking for Events: To book blue badge parking for events, please email the reception team at renold@sistermanchester.com who will provide a form for you to fill in details including your car registration number. See images below of the car parking spaces location.

Entering the building
We have two entrances to the building. We highly recommend that wheelchair users and visitors with mobility or visual impairments use the Main Entrance on Altrincham Street for the easiest and safest access.
- Main Entrance (Altrincham Street) - Recommended: This entrance offers level pavement access with a slope up to the entrance. There is a dedicated power assisted door on the far right of this right-hand side, which operates via card entry. Reception hosts have visibility of this door to assist with entry.

- Secondary Entrance (off Sackville Street): This entrance is only used in the event of a fire as it has a ramp leading down into a graveled garden area. While there is an accessible ramp to get into the lower ground of the building from here, the graveled terrain may be difficult to navigate, which is why we use the Altrincham Street entrance as the main entrance.

Navigating inside the building
Please see links below to the Matterport walkthrough of the main spaces in the building:
- Ground Floor: Which includes main events space (cafe space/flex events space) and auditorium
- Lower Ground Floor: Another secondary events space and where the main toilets are.
- Reception Area: Once inside the first entrance lobby of the Renold Building, you will reach another set of double doors. There is a power assisted entry push-pad located on the right-hand side to grant you easy access to the reception area where you will also find one accessible toilet.

- Cafe Space / Main events space: To reach the main cafe space from reception, you will need to pass through three sets of double doors. When there are events we tend to keep these doors open however our reception team is always on hand and more than happy to assist anyone who requires help navigating these doors.

- Lifts: We have three sets of lifts available to help you travel comfortably between the ground floor and the lower ground floor- see below screenshot from the Matterport Walk through.

Facilities
- Accessible Toilets: There is one accessible toilet located on the ground floor in the main reception area.

- The Auditorium: The auditorium features one push-pad power assisted set of doors on the left for easy entry (yellow circle). Inside, there are dedicated spaces for wheelchairs located in the back row.

- Hearing Loop: The auditorium space is fitted with a hearing loop system. If there are any guests requiring this please get in touch with the events team at events@sistermanchester.com to let them know ahead of the event.
Areas for improvement
- Signage: Please note that at present, the building does not have Braille signage installed. If there are any guests with a visual impairment and require wayfinding assistance, please let our reception team know upon arrival, and they will be glad to guide you.
- Non-power assisted doors: The set of doors leading into the cafe space are not currently power assisted - we make every effort to have these open when there is an event on, however the reception team are on hand to support entry where required.
- Stairwell: There are two sets of stairs in the building going up to all seven levels with hand rails. One flight of stairs includes 28 steps which have a shallow tread depth.
