Annual leave

The annual leave year calendar runs 1 October – 30 September. Please discuss your leave requirements with your manager. Part-time staff are entitled to the same leave allowance pro rata to their contracted hours of work.

All staff are entitled to a proportion of the Bank Holidays and Closure Days pro rata to their contracted hours, irrespective of which days of the week they work.

Sickness absence

If you are unable to work due to sickness, you must telephone your line manager as soon as possible at the start of the day and keep in regular contact. If you return to work within seven calendar days, you’ll be required to complete a self-certification form and your manager will hold a return to work interview with you. The Library's forms allow managers to include the days and hour worked for part-time staff.

Special leave

Special leave is intended to help staff to deal with an unforeseen domestic crisis. The purpose of special leave is to provide time off to deal with the immediate problem and to sort out longer term arrangements if necessary.
