How to get IT Support - guide for Library Staff

Library Staff IT Support Guide

This is for Library Staff only - to help you find which form to use in Connect to get IT Support.

You can also use the Connect Guide with all the information on one page, or the AI chat agent to ask it questions.

What are you having trouble with?

Broken laptop or PC

Use the form Something Not working?

Then pick Library > Library Hardware Support > Specialist Library Equipment
Ensure you choose the Specialist Library Equipment option as this is the bit that directs your ticket to us and doesn't get lost in Frontline.

This form is for broken hardware, laptop running slow, software issues, anything that is causing problems with your personal device.

Library specialist machines

Use Something Not working? > Library > Library Hardware Support. And then drop-down list to the relevant item - book sorter, Sentry gates, day pass kiosk, ILL....

Email, Teams or OneDrive issues

Use Something Not Working? > Communications & Collaboration

Something else

Meeting room equipment or broken digital screen

Use Something Not Working? > Communications & Collaboration

What do you want to request?

  • Laptop for new starter

Use the Library equipment form, then drop-down and pick Specialist Library equipment. Please add the new starter name and start date.

Please note: we need approximately four weeks notice to order the laptop

    Return IT kit

For Library kit please drop it off in Red 2.2

Please do not use Return IT Equipment or Reconnect IT Equipment forms as they are for University owned kit.

Shared area or shared email access

Owners of shared areas and mailboxes can add users themselves using the University of Manchester Access Management Interface (UMAMI) portal. Owners can see the current membership, as well as add and remove managers and members in the portal. See more instructions in Connect.

Staff wanting access need to ask the owner or other users of that group rather than a ticket into Connect.

    Small IT kit

Use the Library equipment form, then drop-down and pick Specialist Library equipment. This is for items such as mice, webcams, laptop stands, headphones etc.

    Software order

Check the Company Portal (laptops) or Software Centre (PCs) to see if there is already any software you can use.

You can order other software using the Library equipment form, then drop-down and pick Specialist Library equipment.

    Web content addition or change

Web content request. Use this for changes or additions to the Library intranet and website.
