Guiding principles for the Library Executive Team
- The Library Executive Team acts as the collective owner of the Library’s Imagine2030 Vision Statement.
- Ensures that the Library operates innovatively in alignment with the University Strategy and that other strategies involving the Library are properly supported and achievable.
- Ensures strategic coordination and management of the activities of the Library, including oversight of the Library budget.
- Steers effective communication and engagement within the Library, across the University and its key committees and with the Library’s multiple external relations.
- Formulates plans, policies and budgets for consideration and approval by PSLT, SLT and other key committees.
- Sets executive policy in a collaborative way of working with Library Leadership Team, with accountability for strategic decisions.
- Monitors the strategic and long-term performance of the Library against a range of measures and supports Library Leadership Team in their operational leadership of progress.
- Sustains a complex understanding of the wider context and environment in which the Library operates.
- Manages strategic risks and opportunities to the Library.
- Acts as a senior sounding board for an ideas-led Library staff.
- Creates a culture of opportunity, equality, creativity and collaboration for the Library as an essential part of student and research life at Manchester, as a UK National Research Library and as one of the world’s great libraries operating internationally.
