Collect free COVID-19 rapid lateral flow tests on campus

11 Jun 2021

Colleagues and students are now able to collect free rapid lateral flow tests on campus

Covid tests

Update: 1 July - please see our most recent news item for updated times/collection points

Rapid lateral flow tests help to find cases in people who may have no symptoms but are still infectious and can give the virus to others.

The test usually involves taking a sample from your tonsils (or where they would have been) and from your nose, using a swab. You can get a result in 30 minutes.

The collection points on campus are:

UPDATED: 23/06/21

  • Alan Gilbert Learning Commons – 9am-1pm
  • Stopford Building Reception – 9am-1pm
  • Kilburn Building – 9am-1pm
  • Fallowfield campus, outside reception – 2pm-6pm

All collection points are open Monday to Friday only.

  • Staff and students who are using the COVID test centre in University Place are also able to collect a self-test kit on exiting the facility between 8:30am – 1pm Monday to Friday up until Friday, 2 July. This facility will then relocate to Whitworth Hall Corridor from week commencing Monday, 5 July.

Colleagues can also order rapid flow tests from gov.uk or visit a test centre on campus. To visit a test centre, please book your test using our online booking form. There are testing centres at University Place and Owens Park.

Staff without access to a PC who cannot register online can attend on a 'walk-in' basis at University Place or Owens Park, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 9am.

Colleagues are advised to take two weekly tests when working on campus. It is recommended that you take these tests 3-4 days apart. For example, if you take your first test on a Thursday or Friday, your second test should be on the following Monday.

IMPORTANT: You must not collect rapid lateral flow tests, attend a testing centre, or come to your workplace if you have symptoms of COVID-19. If you have symptoms, you should book through NHS Test and Trace.

  • If you test positive or need to self-isolate, please report it.
  • Further information on testing is available on our website
