Dental Service Learning

Leads: Professor Raj Ariyaratnam and Team

Dental health inequality is a major issue in the North West. Our dental students provide essential treatment to low income and homeless patients as an integral part of their training. The aim is to improve the dental health of some of the most vulnerable members of our communities and to train graduates who are committed to socially responsible practice. From 2006-2018, 180,000 patients have been treated by dentistry students. This project has previously won a Making a Difference Award for its impact.
