Student cost of living payment: next steps

How we're processing payments to students, where to direct enquiries, and FAQs

Earlier this month we announced our £9million Cost of Living support package for students, which includes a one-off payment available to fully registered students before the Christmas break. 

On Monday 28 November we will begin emailing students to let them know that they need to do two things to receive the payment:

  • Make sure their UK mobile phone number is up-to-date on the student system by Sunday, 4 December;
  • Open a UK bank account if they don’t already have one.

Emails are being sent to students in batches to reduce demand on the student system.

Queries from students 

  • If any students have a question about the Cost of Living payment, please refer them to the FAQs
  • If their question isn’t answered by the FAQs, ask them to complete our online form. To help teams cope with the expected significant number of queries students will send in, please do not give out email addresses or phone numbers, instead please direct all queries through the form.
