Digital Development

About the team

  • Digital communications development and support (website, news, social media, digital signage, accessibility, analytics, multimedia, content creation, SEO, user experiences / interfaces, branding)
  • Bespoke software development (designing, developing and testing new applications, integration with external systems, scripting)
  • Developing and supporting key library systems including Manchester Digital Collections, Library Forms, MLE event booking and eThesis
  • Automation and digital workflows (using technologies such as Robotic Process Automation to simplify and automate back-office processes and workflows)
  • Innovation (trialling the application of cutting edge technologies in order to enhance the Library’s digital services)

Head of Digital Development

Leads the digital development team in the transformation of the digital library through the creation of innovative apps, services and digital content and through involvement in ongoing national and international collaborations.

Senior Software Developer (Technical)

Provides specialist technical support to colleagues in the development team and across the library, providing oversight of technical aspects of software development from architectural design and implementation through to testing and support.

Senior Software Developer (Management)

Manages the development of digital services and applications in support of the library’s strategic objectives overseeing all aspects of software development including design, development, testing, documentation, release management and technical support
