Pause to Reflect: Take one hour for your learning and use the Staff L&D Hub as a guide

17 Mar 2026

March marks the launch of 'Pause to Reflect' - a chance to step back, reconnect with what you want from your work, and make learning feel doable (not daunting).

As part of our commitment to equitable access to learning and development for all Library colleagues, the Library Staff Learning and Development Hub brings together essential training, development resources, digital skills support, and manager guidance in one place.

Whatever your role, grade or career stage, the Hub is designed to help you quickly find what supports your development.

What to do this month (your 60-minute reset)

Block out one hour in your calendar. Make a brew. Then use the Hub to:

  • Check the essential training and resources section – review the six areas, including essential courses for all colleagues, wellbeing, EDI, sustainability and health and safety resources. Find out more about essential training requirements.
  • Pick one achievable step you can commit to (a short course, a resource to read, a conversation to have, or a skill to practise).

Why this matters (and why now)

We want every colleague to have fair, supported access to learning. The Hub is here to help you connect your day to day work and longer term goals, including Performance Development Reviews (PDRs).

Think of it as your starting point: clear signposting, practical tools, and links to Library and University opportunities.

If you need more reasons, check out why learning matters in the Hub.
