Dealing with wireless problems - maintenance on Thursday morning

13 Apr 2016

While the majority of our staff and students are using the eduroam and UoM_WiFi wireless services with no problems, we’ve noticed a slight increase in reports from people in some areas who are having issues using wireless.

We plan to carry out some work before 8.30am on Thursday 14 April. There is a possibility that this may result in a very short loss of network connectivity during this time.

If you are having a problem connecting to wireless at any time, we want you to let us know – even if you think someone else has reported it.

You can telephone, send a message online or visit us.

  • Tel 0161 306 5544
  • Report a fault through the Support Centre Online
  • Visit the IT Support Centre in room G41 on the ground floor in the Kilburn Building

We’d like you to supply the information below (especially building name and room number) but if you need help finding out the other information, our staff will be more than happy to help you to find it.

  • Building and room number
  • Whether you are using eduroam or UoM_WiFi
  • When the problem last occurred and for how long
  • Make and model of your device (including operating system if known)
  • IP address
  • What you’re trying to connect to (eg web address or app)
