Welcome to UoM Sport's Staff Sport page! Here you'll find all the information regarding the Staff Sport programme and upcoming events that you can take part in. All sessions will provide the necessary equipment and will have a qualified instructor/coach on hand. Hopefully you will build some friendships across departments and maybe some friendly rivalries too!
As part of the sport departments commitment to staff wellbeing, we run a timetable of fitness classes throughout the year to promote physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. We run sessions such as Pilates, Yoga, Zumba and Hula Hoop to name just a few activities you could get involved with. Typically classes run during your lunch hour or after work to fit around you. You may or may not have heard about it, but Sporticipate is not just for students, it's fully open to staff too. The Sporticipate programme runs weekly 'drop-in' sessions with no commitment required, 'learn-to' programmes where you sign up to a structured introduction to a sport or activity, and 'one-off' events throughout the year. These all come at little to no cost and all equipment is provided. Many sessions run during lunch times or after work at facilities on, or close to, campus.

Campus Sport Leagues
All Campus Sport Leagues are open to all staff and it would be great to see more staff getting teams together to take part in the 5 different leagues we run from October to April. Currently our leagues are in Football, Rugby, Futsal, Hockey, Basketball and Netball, with the view of adding more to our programme. We are running a 11-a-side Staff football league on a Tuesday at Trinity High School, with fixtures between 5-7pm. The dates we have set for this so far are 6th November 2018, 27th November 2018, 11th December 2018, 29th January 2019, 19th February 2019, 12th March 2019, and 2nd April 2019. Great Manchester 10K run
Whatever drives you, run with us
Sunday 20nd May saw the biggest Purple wave ever take part in the Great Manchester 10K with over 2000 University finishers!
Those of you who stood on the start line with hundreds of others in purple shirts were no doubt moved by the occasion.
We have had loads of great messages from you following the event and have been so pleased to hear how being part of the event has really changed some people’s lives.
Registration for 2019 will open soon. Yes, we are going to do it all over again. Planning and targets were being discussed before the dust had even settled on our trainers, so if you want to hold off on registering with the Great Run with a view to joining us again next year, then please register your interest on the linked form and offer details will follow.

Don’t forget that the UoM running groups will be continuing to support those of you who want to fit in a lunch time run with a group of friendly like-minded people. All details of these groups can be seen on the attached poster and on the UoM SPORT website.
