Academic Libraries North event – an opportunity to present your work
14 Dec 2022
Academic Libraries North are running a free face-to-face event for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Library colleagues to celebrate the work that they are doing.
The Academic Libraries North ‘Thriving in Your Career’ event on the afternoon of Monday, 23 January 2023, will be a space in which attendees can share work that is either ongoing, completed or being planned. It can be about any aspect of your practice as information professionals. The intention is to provide a safe and supportive environment for anyone to share ideas and ask for feedback, but to also provide a platform for those who may not have had the opportunity to present work in a professional context before.
Each presentation will be five minutes long with time for questions and feedback at the end. This session will be fairly informal, so there is no need for any in-depth preparation.
BAME Library colleagues at any stage of their career are encouraged to submit a proposal. If this is something you’d be interested in doing, speak to your line manager about your proposal and once it has been agreed fill in this quick form with your name, short title of your talk, and a brief description (no more than 100 words) of your work. If your proposal is accepted you will also need to complete the Library’s Conference/Training Course & Travel Application form.
Further information on how to book courses, conferences and travel is available on the Library intranet.
Bookings are also now open for the event, whether you intend to present or not.
