University staff, students and alumni take on the Purplewave 2025
19 May 2025
Congratulations to all who took part in UoM Sport's Purplewave – including 83 fundraisers who raised more than £16,000 for two University causes: support student access and success and cancer research.

On Sunday, more than 600 students, staff, alumni and friends took to the streets of Manchester for the Purplewave 10K, part of the Great Manchester Run.
Cheered on by our President and Vice-Chancellor Duncan Ivison among others, participants put in a tremendous effort despite the heat.
Among the group were 83 fundraisers, who were raising money to support student access and success, and cancer research here at the University. They have raised over £16,000 (including Gift Aid) across both causes so far.
The top fundraiser was Stephen Davies, Clinical Lecturer, Division of Dentistry, who has raised over £1,000 to support students facing financial hardship.
