British Science Association Media Fellowships

07 Feb 2013

Apply by 11 March for the chance to turn the latest science into news and spend three to six weeks with a professional journalist.

The Media Fellowships aim to give scientists and their colleagues, the confidence and willingness to engage with the media and tackle issues of mistrust and misrepresentation and to give journalists access to new scientific expertise.

You will:

  • Learn how to produce well-informed newsworthy pieces about developments in science
  • Become more confident working with the media
  • Develop your writing skills and produce better funding applications and articles.

Up to 10 Media Fellowships are awarded each year to scientists, social scientists, clinicians and engineers from different backgrounds and stages of their career.

Media Fellows spend three to six weeks over the summer working with a media host: national press, broadcast or internet media. The Fellows gain a greater awareness and understanding of their workings of the media and produce accurate and well-informed news pieces. Media Fellows will also work in the Press Centre at the British Science Festival.

The 2013 Media Fellows applications are open until 11 March 2013.
