Cycle crime figures

Cycle crime figures are down by 38% on the same period last year (September to December).

Subsidised lock scheme price reduction

Between 14 and 31 January 2013 the price of the subsidised locks currently on offer at £15 (RRP £35) will be available for £10. The silver standard ‘D’ locks are a great deterrent to thieves. The reduction is being introduced to encourage new students, those returning to study and members of staff to invest in a good quality bike lock. Locks can be purchased from:

Please note that you only qualify for a subsidised lock, if you:

  • Register your bike on the free University scheme
    or
  • Have been issued with a yellow ‘trade in’ label (from 7 January, Security staff will be visiting the cycle racks on campus and, if they see a student or staff member securing their bike with a poor quality lock, they will issue them with a yellow lock swop label and enourage them to invest in one of the discounted ‘D’ locks)

Cycle registration

New cycle registration dates have been published on the Crime Reduction Facebook page and web site. There are numerous events scheduled through to April 2013.
