Mindfulness summer sessions

01 Aug 2012

Free sessions open to all staff and students in Wellbeing Room, Dover Street Building.

The Thursday lunchtime (1-2pm) mindfulness meditation classes are now back in the Dover Street Wellbeing Room after the redecoration of the Wellbeing Room's reception area. The sessions are free and are open to all staff and students.

There is now a great deal of interest in mindfulness. This meditation practice has been shown to exert a powerful influence on our health, wellbeing and happiness, and there is now significant scientific or medical evidence to confirm this.

Mindfulness is a way of learning to pay attention and be aware of what is happening in the present without judgement or expectation.

The mindfulness sessions will help you begin to:

  • explore alternatives to being lost in your thoughts and have an increased awareness of the present moment;
  • see your thoughts as mental events that come and go in the mind;
  • help you to sidestep the rumination that can draw us into low mood or worry.

To book a place:

  1. Go to Counselling and download a registration form;
  2. Email the completed form to counsel.servicegroups@man.ac.uk
