06 Jul 2012

Specialist search marketing agency theEword has published a report naming Manchester's best websites, with The John Rylands Library placed 6th.

The Manchester Search Engine Optimisation Report ranks the websites of more than 500 businesses across 12 industry sectors, from retail to the arts and sport to financial services.

TheEword's report uses 18 measures – including Google page rankings, the number of pages updated in the last month, the number of broken links and the number of referring websites – to give each site a percentage score.

The John Rylands Library scored 87.6%; the average score for Arts and Culture websites across Manchester was 70%.

Michelle Sharples, Marketing and Communications Manager for The John Rylands Library, said: “We aim to appeal to a wide range of audiences so making sure the site is easy to navigate, with an intuitive structure, is a high priority. Vibrant, up to date content is also essential to ensure that our visitors enjoy accessing the site and get what they need from each visit.”

“We are delighted to have scored so highly in this survey."
