09 Nov 2010

Courses available at STDU on 19 and 24 November

How does the new Equality Act 2010 impact on your work?

  • Can managers still use Positive Action for recruitment and promotions?
  • What are the nine different equality areas protected by law?
  • Will I be allowed to breastfeed my six month old baby?
  • What duty do I have to support disabled staff and students?
  • Can you ask about sickness absence at interview or on an application form?
  • Can the University be liable for harassment of a member of staff by the public?

The Equality Act 2010 came into force on 1 October with the aim of harmonising and simplifying existing discrimination laws.

It is important to make sure you are up-to-date with the latest legislation covering equality and diversity. The session will be useful for both managers and staff.

Come to a session delivered by the Equality and Diversity Office to get these and many more questions, answered. The sessions will run on 19 November and 24 November 2010, 2pm-3pm.
