Only Connect: Where general knowledge meets lateral thinking

23 Oct 2009

Teams of three players sought for BBC4 quiz

Presented by Victoria Coren (Balderdash and Piffle/Off The Page/Heresy, Guardian and Observer columnist and poker player extraordinaire), Only Connect is the only series where, as in life itself, knowledge will only take you so far: patience and lateral thinking are also vital.

Factual recall alone is not enough to give you the answer - it’s all about making connections between things which may appear, at first glance, not to be connected at all. It’s a challenging quiz where teams of three work together to deduce the answers.

The first series of the show premiered in September 2008, a second series aired from July 2009, and a third series (15 episodes) has been just been commissioned for transmission early in 2010.

Production company Presentable is currently looking for teams of three players who share a common passion, ability or profession, to pool their combined wits to solve fiendish conundrums and vexing puzzles.

To request an application, email:

All entries must be received by no later than midnight on Tuesday 10 November 2009, so all those interested need to get their applications in as soon as possible!

If you’ve applied for a previous series but were unsuccessful, you’re welcome to apply again for the new series.

Auditions will be held in regional centres throughout the UK and, if you are successful, Presentable will cover all your expenses. All applicants must be aged 18+ and UK residents.
