‘Pathways’ - new careers event for research staff and PhD students.

03 Jun 2008

Invitation to early career researchers and PhD students for 13 and 16 June.

‘Pathways’ takes place on Friday 13 and Monday 16 June in the Renold Building. You can attend either, or both days.

The event on 13 June will start with a keynote address by Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor. The rest of the day will consist of “Question and Answer” panel sessions with a wide range of participants who have either completed their PhDs or moved on from university research posts in the last 10 years, or who have expertise in the job market for PhDs and researchers. This will cover both academic and non-academic career options for researchers from all Faculties.

There will also be a Careers Lounge running throughout the day, where you can chat with our guest speakers in a less formal setting.

The event on the 16 June will include a range of targeted workshops and talks from external and internal trainers and experts to help you with the burning question : “So, now I’ve heard about all these careers – how do I choose and what do I do to make it happen?”

There will also be an Employability Zone, with information and advice from schemes and organisations who offer opportunities to enhance your CV by adding evidence of skills which employers love, plus the chance for you to talk to academics, careers consultants and others about prioritising your career plans.

Places are limited, so register today at:

This is a collaborative event between all four Faculties and the MLP, Careers & Employability Division.
