Earthquake in China and cyclone in Burma.

Sources of advice and support for students and staff.

Some of you and your families, or prospective students and their families, may have been affected by the tragedies caused by the recent earthquake in China's Sichuan province or the cyclone in Burma. As yet we do not know the full impact of these disasters on the University community but the University will do all it can to help staff and students who have been affected. Sources of advice and support within the University are given below.

Counselling and Personal Support

  • International Society

    The International Society, which works in closely with the University Directorate of International Development, is a social, cultural, and welfare centre for all overseas students in Manchester.

Students: Financial, Academic and Accommodation Concerns

  • Tutors and Supervisors
    Students concerned about academic commitments or about having to interrupt their studies should contact their tutor or supervisor.
