Purple Pennies, our new micro giving scheme, is now open.
Purple Pennies allows you to make a collective impact with colleagues across the University by donating the pennies from your salary towards local charitable causes.
Your salary will be rounded down to the nearest pound, meaning you will never donate more than 99p a month – over a 12 month period the most you would donate would be £11.88.
The three Purple Pennies charitable causes were chosen by you and will each receive an equal split of the Purple Pennies pot.
Why donate via Purple Pennies?
Purple Pennies is a micro-giving scheme which means your donation is taken out of your salary before tax.
Your monthly gift to the chosen charitable causes can be automatically boosted by 25% via Gift Aid. This means the three Purple Pennies charitable causes receive your donation, but also the amount that you’d normally pay in tax at no extra cost to you.
