Jan Wilkinson will take up appointment on 2 January 2008

Jan Wilkinson, currently Head of Higher Education at the British Library, has been appointed University Librarian and Director of the John Rylands University Library. She will take up her appointment on Tuesday 2 January 2008.

Jan Wilkinson has wide experience of a variety of academic libraries, having spent 17 years as a senior manager in different posts. Prior to joining the British Library in 2004, she was University Librarian and Keeper of the Brotherton Collection at the University of Leeds and was previously Deputy Librarian at the London School of Economics (LSE).
