Guidance for planned rail and teacher strikes

26 Jan 2023

A message from Adèle MacKinlay, Director of People and Organisational Development

Guidance for planned rail and teacher strikes

There are a number of pay disputes which have resulted in industrial action and we recognise that the upcoming rail and teachers strike action on Wednesday, 1 February 2023 will leave some people with limited options to attend work.

In order to help employees deal with the impact of the rail and teacher strikes, we encourage managers and employees to discuss the most appropriate contingencies during this period and we have developed the following guidance to help in these discussions:

The guidance includes information if employees are unable to travel to work or are impacted by a school closure and what happens if someone is late because of the strikes.

Detailed guidance will be published in the coming days about the UCU industrial action throughout February and March.

We’d like to reassure our students that we will do everything we can to minimise any impact on their teaching, learning and wider experience and will of course keep colleagues fully informed of any developments.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact either myself or Andrew Mullen.
