Fire awareness courses at STDU on 14 May

General fire safety in the workplace and training for Fire Evacuation Marshals

Places are still available on the following courses at STDU in May:

HS41: Fire Awareness Training
14 May 2007, 9.30am-12.30pm

Fire Brigades in the UK attend over 36,000 workplace fires a year. This session will cover the University's general procedures and arrangements in respect of fire and emergencies, guidance for emergency evacuation, and practical advice on how to avoid fires in the workplace and ensure safety if a fire does occur.

HS47:  Fire Marshal Evacuation Training
14 May 2007, 1pm-4pm (must have previously attended HS41)

The University of Manchester's Health & Safety policy and the Fire Safety Code, require Heads of Schools and Heads of Departments etc to appoint Evacuation Marshals to assist in the evacuation of people from a building in the event of a fire alarm activation. This course is for appointed Evacuation Marshals, and will cover their role and duties during emergencies and evacuation. This session will be accompanied by a building familiarisation session held with the relevant University Safety Coordinator and Fire Officer.
