Campus Solutions unavailable 9-12 October

Vital update to be completed

Campus Solutions will be unavailable to both staff and students from midday on Friday 9 October to midday on Monday 12 October.

During this period, students and staff will not be able to:

  • Complete academic and financial registration
  • Choose or enrol on course units
  • Submit and process applications
  • View or amend any other information in Campus Solutions

Students who have completed academic registration and been enrolled on course units will still be able to access their timetables and Blackboard course units, and make payments. This downtime will not affect access to other Blackboard spaces, or the Campus Solutions 9.2 system used by Global MBA staff and students in the Alliance Manchester Business School.

Where appropriate, please encourage your students to complete registration and unit enrolment before Friday 9 October - or let them know they won't be able to access the system during this period. This applies to undergraduate, taught postgraduate and postgraduate research students.

This Campus Solutions update is a key step in the Student Experience Programme. It will allow us to continue accessing vital technical support from the software manufacturer, and reduce the amount of time and resource spent supporting the system across the University. It will also lay the foundations for future improvements to student services and enables a more phased release of functionality developed in the Student Experience Programme.

These downtime dates were agreed with key stakeholders (including senior academic colleagues), to try and minimise the impact on current registration and the start of the teaching while not delaying the start of the new admissions cycle. It is standard practice for us to update Campus Solutions at around this time each year, for the start of the new admissions cycle. We are normally able to restrict downtime to non-working days, however on this occasion the update is a larger piece of technical work which requires an extra day to complete. 

The upgrade will be implemented with the current University of Manchester customisations, which means users will not need to change how they use Campus Solutions. However all staff will have the option to access a new home view. This more modern and user-friendly interface can be personalised to quickly and easily access the areas you use most often. You can choose whether to switch – the old home view will continue to be available until June 2021. We’ll publish further information and a short video explaining the new home view when it goes live.
