Giving back

Give is one of the University’s Six Ways to Wellbeing and to support this we are encouraging you to save a date for #GivingTuesdayNow on Tuesday 5th May. In direct response to the Coronavirus situation it will be a day for us all to show how much we appreciate those essential workers who have played such an important role over the last weeks and months and to those charities who are always there working on the important issues that make such a difference in all our lives. Charities have been meeting vital needs which haven’t gone away in the face of Coronavirus. With the economic downturn and fundraising events cancelled, charities need help now more than ever. The UK sector is facing a £4 billion loss in income as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. If you are able, on the 5th May you could consider a one off or regular monthly donation to your favourite charity via our Payroll Giving Scheme. Every donation will help support the work of charities doing so much in our communities.

Before the campus closure many of you donated food and donated money to Emmeline’s Pantry foodbank. They are a local foodbank who have been working hard on the frontline supporting women and families. Your support helped raise over £2,000 and it took a few car journeys to drop off all the food donations!

Wellbeing

The University’s coronavirus wellbeing web pages are continually being updated with content to support you at this time. There are some great exercise videos to follow for pilates and cardio work, breathing and Tai Chi exercises and there are even designs for you to colour in of the University campus!

Keep safe. Keep well and keep up to date with all your benefits and wellbeing options.
