Oxford Road Corridor annual Active Travel Event

The University is hosting the 2019 Active Travel Event on behalf of the Oxford Road Corridor sustainable travel group

Active Travel Event 2019

Held on Wednesday, 1 May from 8am until 2pm in the newly-created Brunswick Park, the event will celebrate all things walking, cycling, running, and scooting for staff and students commuting to Oxford Road.

There will be demos, information stands and interactive activities for existing or new active commuters to support you to stay healthy and get moving on foot or on two wheels!

Event highlights include:

  • Bike powered scalextric
  • Bike powered smoothie maker
  • Tote bag printing 
  • Free bike maintenance 
  • TfGM, British Cycling will be there
  • Scooter and bike demos

Mcr Strollers walking group will be hosting a guided commuter walk for those who can ditch the car for the day and travel by train and on foot (meeting at 7:45am outside Monsoon in Piccadilly station, register at mcrstrollers@manchester.ac.uk). 

A free breakfast is being provided for those who are actively commuting on the day (you must register online, as limited to 300 people).  

Market food stalls 'In the Dog Haus' (hot dogs), Cranks Cycling Coffee Bike and Exclusive Scoop Ice-cream will also be there throughout the day.  

For those of you part of a Green Impact team, this may be a good opportunity to promote some of the sustainable travel aspects of the toolkit to pick up some extra points! Attendance will also provide a great opportunity to add to your 10,000 Actions profile
