The Employee Lifecycle Project outline upcoming changes to benefit staff

The Employee Lifecycle Project will improve the University’s HR system and processes, in areas such as recruitment/new starters, online expenses and self-service (MyView).  Led by colleagues in HR Services and IT Services changes will be delivered incrementally, however you can expect to see the first set of improvements by early 2019.

Why are we making these changes and why now?

We have been using our current HR system for a considerable time, and so now in some areas this no longer meets our requirements.  Feedback from staff suggests that currently it is too paper based and doesn’t provide a user friendly or streamlined experience, which is why targeted investment in a number of key areas is required.

Our new recruitment system, for example, will be simpler, faster and more transparent; whilst the introduction of online expenses moves away from the current paper system to an integrated expenses package delivered through MyView allowing for the scanning of receipts.

Making change happen and next steps

As the first phase of the project progresses the new process and system changes will be outlined in greater detail, well in advance of implementation, to ensure a smooth transition in the early part of 2019.

Improvements are not limited to these first three areas, ongoing enhancements to our systems and processes will be identified and delivered through the project in future phases. Ultimately we want every employee to have a great experience of HR processes throughout their time working at the University.
