Staff benefits update

16 Jun 2016

This week there are great offers from both the Royal Exchange & Palace Theatres, an increased discount with SuperBreak and a prize draw to win a pair of tickets for a forthcoming production at the Exchange

Sandcastle

Palace Theatre

The latest offer is for Save the Last Dance for Me, Monday, 27 June to Saturday, 2 July 2016, with best available seats valid for Monday to Friday Evening Performances. From the team that brought you the huge success that is Dreamboats and Petticoats, Save the Last Dance for Me will take you back through the ‘music and magic’ of the early 60’s.  The Palace Theatre is also taking bookings for a backstage theatre tour on either 19 July or 6 September. Commencing at 11am, the tour will last approximately 90 minutes to two hours (please note that you will have to negotiate steps to reach some of the levels of the theatre). The cost of the tour is just £8.50 per person and spaces are limited. Visit the Palace Theatre page for how to book.

Royal Exchange Theatre

The Exchange has a new offer on the forthcoming production of Howard Jacobson’s hilarious novel The Mighty Waltzer. Set in 50s Manchester, it’s the story of Oliver Walzer – he’s a shy Jewish boy, who’s rubbish with girls. This achingly funny coming-of-age story has Elliot Levey (Coriolanus, The Lady in the Van, and A Midsummer Night's Dream) as Oliver alongside Tracy-Ann Oberman as matriarch Sadie (McQueen, New Tricks, Doctor Who and Eastenders). Visit the secure page for details of the discount and how to book.

Prize draw

The Royal Exchange has provided two pairs of complimentary press night tickets to see The Mighty Waltzer on Tuesday, 5 July. To win a pair of tickets, just answer the simple question below:

Q. Waltzers can usually be found at:

a) Fun fairs

b) Bun fairs

Email your answer to staffbenefits@manchester.ac.uk with the subject Royal Exchange by Monday, 27 June. The draw will take place on that day at noon.

Blackwells Bookshop

While current works are ongoing at the University Precinct, Blackwells and Starbucks have relocated to a purpose built space between Arthur Lewis and Humanities Bridgeford Street. You can still access your 10% discount at Blackwells when showing your staff ID card. Look out next week for a special offer they will be launching!
