Does your research or studies relate to sustainability?

11 Mar 2016

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to support a schools competition called ‘School Eco-Factor’

Background

This is a University-led environmental sustainability competition across Greater Manchester schools, linking to the European City of Science 2016 and Manchester Museum's 'Climate Control' exhibition and events programme. Pupils need to identify an environmental concern in their schools or communities, and develop a project to address these concerns.

We are looking for enthusiastic researchers and student volunteers to help support school teams when developing their competition entry. This would involve being a mentor and connecting with school teams via email and/or Skype.

The competition is open to Years 7-11 (ages 11 to 16) with a Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) and a Key stage 4 (Years 10 - 11) category, with pupils working in small groups of three to five.

Short-listed teams will be invited to a showcase event at Manchester Museum on 6th July. This is an opportunity for them to share their work and get feedback from peers and a range of University representatives. With the winning team from each category being announced and receiving a prize.
