New skill sharing CPD masterclasses for academic staff

14 Jan 2014

Beginning in January a new portfolio of lunchtime masterclasses for academics - led by leading academics and administrators - has been added to the staff training calendar as part of a new approach to academic staff training at the University.

The University is keen to support your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and share the expertise of colleagues across the University. CPD involves identifying and planning training and reflecting on learning and development. The new masterclass sessions will cover a wide range of topics including: managing research centres, supporting the career development of researchers, teaching large lectures, being a programme director and finance skills for principal investigators. The content and design of these new masterclasses has been informed by evidence from the staff survey and also the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning in higher education.

Academic staff are encouraged to keep an Academic Training Record to document the learning they have undertaken and to reflect on how useful it has been. Staff can also use the ‘My Profile Training’ tool record hosted on the STDU website.

Each masterclass includes lunch and the opportunity to share experiences with fellow academic colleagues from across the University.

Places on each masterclass are limited. You can reserve your place at the STDU Training Catalogue. Just type in ‘CPD’ into the search tool.
