Dara and the BBC team back to broadcast live from Jodrell Bank

BBC Stargazing LIVE

Stargazing LIVE – the BBC’s hugely-popular space exploration show broadcast live from the University’s iconic Jodrell Bank – has returned to our screens.

Hosted by our own Professor Brian Cox and comedian Dara O Briain, the astronomy extravaganza – which aims to encourage everyone from the complete beginner to the enthusiastic amateur to make the most of the night sky – is now in its fourth year.

Last year it attracted more than 10 million viewers across three nights.

This year, Brian, Dara and the team are revealing viewers' most extraordinary astronomy images and being joined by astronauts Walt Cunningham and Chris Hadfield.

This year’s series also has an offshoot, CBeebies Stargazing, a special mini-series introducing children to the wonders of the night sky and the universe.

Presented by Chris Jarvis and with expert knowledge courtesy of space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, a group of young Stargazers visit Stargazing Park to learn more about the wonders of the night sky via a combination of hands-on experiments, animated stories, archive footage, music, poetry and lots of stargazing!

  • Stargazing LIVE will be broadcast on BBC 2 at 8pm tonight and tomorrow (January 8 and 9).
  • To watch on iPlayer visit BBC Stargazing LIVE
  • Or catch CBeebies Stargazing at 5.30pm from January 6 to 10.
