Important changes to the Marketplace

31 Oct 2013

The Marketplace on the University Staffnet is one of the most popular pages with hundreds of hits a week. From bedside cabinets to bespoke poetry, from children’s toys to personalised artwork the range of goods and services on offers knows no bounds!

Over the next few weeks, you will notice some changes to the Marketplace which are being made in order to bring it back to the original idea of having an on-site service allowing University staff to buy and sell goods and offer services to each other.

External advertising

The biggest change you will see is the gradual disappearance of ‘external’ advertising. From today (Thursday, 31 October) no further external advertising will be accepted on the Marketplace. Advertisements currently being run by external advertisers will not be renewed once their expiry dates have been reached.

Services

Members of staff who wish to advertise their own small businesses such as Avon or hand made cards etc, can still advertise in the ‘Services’ section but the business must be theirs and not one they are advertising on behalf of a family member, friend or other external body. Members of staff advertising services should also be aware of the University’s policy on Outside Work and Consultancy

Please take a moment to read the updated Advertising Policy on the Marketplace before placing your advert.
