Take Part in the University's International Photography Competition 2020

Use your smartphone camera to capture what family means to you and you could win £1000!

In partnership with Creative Manchester, the Manchester China Institute launched its first UK-China International Photography Competition in 2019 and will hold a second competition in Spring 2020.

The competition is themed around ‘What Does Family Mean to You?” and takes place between Monday 2 March and Monday 25 May in 2020.


Use your smartphone camera to capture the essence of what family means to you. Then email it to us with a title of no more than ten English language words or Chinese characters, and a caption of no more than thirty words or characters, describing the photo and what it means to you.

Judges include Michael Wood, Historian, Broadcaster, Professor of Public History at The University of Manchester and Zoe Dunbar, Director, Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art.

Rules

Prizes

  • Best UK Submission: £1,000 + award certificate + photo book of the competition
  • Best China Submission: 8,888 RMB (£1,000) + award certificate + photo book of the competition
  • People’s Choice Award: £500 + award certificate + photo book of the competition

Winners will be announced the week commencing 22 June 2020
