Staff Wellbeing Champions Take Action
07 Jan 2019
In January 2018 we launched our network of Staff Wellbeing Champions. These are individuals across the University who have an interest in wellbeing and have committed to promoting it within their teams.
In the DSE, champions Millie and Dan have organised and supported a SDCE Step Challenge – a mini step challenge to encourage everyone to complete as many steps as they could over 6 weeks in the summer with great feedback from participants. They also organised a Very Christmassy SDCE Film Screening showing It’s a Wonderful Life in two parts across two lunchtimes in December and support a book club where people submit suggestions of small books and one is chosen each month. Members then meet over lunch to chat about the book, and any other conversations related to the book.
Over in the library champions have set up a Library hiking group. According to Mark Hastings, it’s only a rumour that they walk in alphabetical order! The group now has 29 members. They also held their 7th annual Library Christmas charity fair raising £404 to be divided between Lemn’s Christmas Dinners and Barnabus Homeless charity as well as collecting food and clothing throughout December 2018 in 12 recycled book boxes for delivery to Barnabus in January 2019.
Thanks to all our champions who are organising activity across the University.
