Finance develop office space for staff

03 Dec 2018

The Finance Directorate have taken positive action from 2017 Staff Survey by developing breakout spaces for staff

Staff in new spaces

The Finance Directorate have updated their office space in the John Owen’s building to include breakout spaces for staff.

This is a result of staff feedback in the 2017 Staff Survey where staff commented that they would like more spaces to have lunch and meetings.

Sofas and tables have been installed within the Directorate offices in John Owen’s building and some office space has been booked between the hours of 12.00pm and 2.00pm every day to ensure staff have somewhere away from their desks to eat their lunch. A vending machine has also been ordered and once installed it will be open to all staff.

Commenting on the new breakout spaces Mehmood Mulla said: “The lunch room is a good space away from my desk to switch off and relax. I can socialise with colleagues and also meet others who I do not directly work with.”

A working group with representation from both Faculty and central finance teams was created to address and respond to the identified themes. Work is on-going to identify breakout areas within other University buildings housing finance staff.
