Summer cricket mini-league: Last few places, sign up now!

Cricket mad but nowhere to play? A new cricket mini-league will be running from 20 April with games taking place on Wednesday afternoons, Saturdays and Sundays at Alexandra Park in Whalley Range.

The league, run by the University's cricket club, is open to male and female players and both students and staff, so grab some keen people from your department, halls, office or wherever and get involved. Cost per team is £220.

If you can't get a whole team together, don't worry, as individual players are welcome too.

For more information, contact Richard or Ben from the UM Cricket Club via:

Try Futsal - new dates.

Ever wondered how some of the world's most skilful players developed their ability to beat opponents at will? How did players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos develop the skills that have taken their game to the highest level? Futsal! Futsal is the format of small-sided football that is recognised and supported by FIFA and UEFA.

SPORT is working with Manchester Futsal Club to run introductory Futsal sessions for all those who would like to try the sport or who would like to find out how they can continue playing whilst in Manchester. Manchester Futsal Club will be providing coaches who will run a series of sessions incorporating both coaching and game time.

Session 1:

  • Saturday 25 April, 11am to 3pm at the Sugden Sports Centre

Session 2:

  • Saturday 16 May, 11am to 3pm at the Sugden Sports Centre

Price: £6 for one session or £10 for both sessions for University of Manchester students and staff, on production of University ID (prices available on request for external persons).

To book (cash or cheque only), please visit:

  • SPORT-Head Office reception, William Kay House, 333 Oxford Road (open Monday-Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm)
