Manchester Histories Festival Celebration Day

31 May 2016

On 11 June (10.30am-4pm) at Manchester Town Hall

The John Rylands Library will be hosting a stand in Manchester Town Hall on the festival’s Celebration Day to reveal hidden gems from the Guardian Archive, which also includes material relating to its sister newspaper, the Manchester Evening News.

This archive is of huge significance for Manchester, depicting the newspaper’s key place in the city’s rich history of radicalism and campaigns for social and political reform.

The Library invites you to share your stories of the newspaper's history and help identify the people, professions and machinery depicted in the archive’s captivating historic photographs.
