Help us to examine human judgement and decision making in virtual reality (VR)
Description
Ethics ref: 15532
We are looking for research participants in a study to investigate human judgement and decision making in different situations using Virtual Reality to manipulate the context in which decisions are made.
The study will involve wearing a watch which monitors your heart rate and electro-dermal activity while completing a simple task in VR. The task involves walking across a bridge between two virtual platforms a few cm above the ground. Sometimes the bridge will not support your weight and a simulated fall will result, but of course you will be in no physical harm and the simulated drop will be no more than a few cm. If you have a strong fear of heights or previous history of cyber/VR sickness, you may not want to take part. The task should take under 60 minutes and you will be compensated for your time.
Research participants must be/have:
- members of staff or students at UoM
- aged over 18
- able to stand unaided
- normal or corrected to normal vision
