Recycling disposable vapes/e-cigarettes

You can now recycle your disposable vapes/e-cigarettes at University Place
The collection point is located on the reception desk at University Place and has been set up by the Directorate of Estates and Facilities.
The container will be emptied on a regular basis with the items being sent for recycling via our waste contractors, Veolia.
Wherever possible we would encourage users to return any used disposable vapes to the outlet they purchased them from as there is a significant cost to the University in collecting and disposing of these items.
Vapes/e-cigarettes should not be disposed of in the general waste or littered as they contain lithium batteries which can become damaged during the waste collection process, causing them to heat up and catch fire very quickly.
