Research Lifecycle Project needs you

23 Jun 2025

Give your feedback to the RLP team who are mapping how research is supported here at Manchester.

The Research Lifecycle Mapping Project is creating a clear picture of how research is supported here at Manchester.

We want to simplify and support the journey a researcher must make from pre-award through project set-up, successfully delivery and completion.

The team want to hear from colleagues who conduct and support research so that they may more fully understand and document the current state of the research lifecycle. Your feedback will be invaluable to help the team identify inefficiencies, duplications and innovations which we can make to make it easier to do your research.

The aim of the work is to collaborate and to listen, learn and document. It certainly isn’t about evaluating performance or monitoring compliance with existing processes.

By drawing this complete picture of the research lifecycle, the team will be able to develop a shared understanding and way of working across the University through a common language and shared tools. In turn, this will ensure that future initiatives are evidence-led, provide real benefits and improvements without adversely affecting other stages of the research lifecycle.

You can see the first iteration map at:

We are keen to hear from all colleagues directly involved in research – experienced PIs, through to those who are submitting their first funding proposals, as well as research project managers and technical professionals.
