Who we work with
We work with broad range of organisations including from the private, public and charity sectors. This allows us to apply academic knowledge, expertise and research to a range of practical projects that have a direct impact on policies, people and processes.
We have strategic accounts with a number of global companies including Astrazeneca, BAE Systems, BP and Tesco. Strategic accounts go beyond simple transactional relationships, developing into lasting partnerships where each party is able to influence the long-term strategies of the other. These often involve senior management from both the University and the company and can cover multiple activities across several Schools.
We also work with Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), which opens up a wealth of opportunities and mutual benefits and helps to raise Manchester’s profile in local and regional business communities.
Working with charities allows the University to use its knowledge, expertise and skills to positively influence and affect humanitarian challenges and improve global health and wellbeing.
We have partnerships with a number of medical charities, including Cancer Research UK and the Wellcome Trust, which provide a significant amount of funding to our translational and clinical research activities. We also have a strategic partnership with the International Federation of the Red Cross, which focuses on training and research collaborations.
We work with a number of UK public sector institutions on a range of activity from policy advice and research projects to Professional Education Programmes. Partners include local NHS Hospitals; Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs; FCO, The Home Office; Greater Manchester Combined Authority and city/regional economic development organisations.
