Managing a Trial

 How to plan a new Clinical Trial

  • The MRC and Department of Health have developed a process map on how to plan a new trial.  The routemap can be viewed on the Clinical Trials Tool Kit site.
  • Further guidance from the MRC on how to deal with the management of data and tissues is also available through the Data and Tissues Toolkit.

How to register a new Clinical Trial 

  • University of Manchester Investigators should register their research with the Research Office by completing a Study Registration Form and sending the study protocol to the Research Governance, Ethics and Integrity Team (Clinical Trials). If in doubt as to whether or not to register a study please consult the Research Governance, Ethics and Integrity Manager (Clinical Trials).
  • Registration should take place at the time of application for funding if the submission for funding is being processed via the University of Manchester.   If another institution is taking the lead with regard to securing funding, registration should take place after funding has been awarded.

How to manage a Clinical Trial

  • The MRC and Department of Health have also developed a process map on how to manage a trial and the closure process.  You can view the routemap on the Clinical Trials Routemap.
  • All Clinical Trials must be conducted in accordance with the relevant University policies and procedures.
