The Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) is a British Government scheme for certifying foreign students and researchers for entry into the United Kingdom to study or conduct research in certain sensitive technology-related fields.

The University also implements checks in accordance with export control regulations. These checks are made on the entities linked to the visitors, and not on the visitors themselves:
