Showcasing UKRI funded projects on Research Explorer
16 Oct 2025
Project details from last five years recorded in Pure and UKRI Gateway to Research will automatically be made public on Research Explorer – guidance
Following on from consultation with faculties, from 1 October 2025, details of any projects from the last 5 years which are recorded in Pure and are also listed on the UKRI Gateway to Research portal will automatically be made public on the Projects sections of Research Explorer.
What information will be displayed?
Only the following information will be visible on a Project record –
- Title of the project
- Short title
- Project status (Not started, Live, Finished)
- Start and end date
- Names of the Principal Investigator and any Co-Investigators and their affiliations as the University (and any other project members if added)
- Description (if one has been added to Pure – where possible descriptions have been imported from Gateway to Research).
- Details of any related records, such as publications (if added)
- Any links (if added)
- Any keywords (if added)
- Any images, such as funder logos (if added)
Please note that none of the following information will be made visible on a Project record:
- Funder(s)
- Collaborator(s)
- Funding value
- Budgets
- Any documentation
What do I need to do?
No action is required, however you can update any of the information on any Project records you are named on, and you can also choose to remove specific Project records from your profile if you wish.
We would encourage all researchers to periodically review their Project records.
We hope this change will help to:
- Reduce the need for colleagues to log in Pure to manually make project records already in the public domain visible on their profiles.
- Allow you to acknowledge the source of funding by adding the funder details and/or funder logo as required (for example to meet UKRI and European Commission terms and conditions).
- Showcase the breadth of the research undertaken at the University to a range of stakeholders including internal colleagues, potential collaborators and students and the general public.
- Demonstrate the wide range of activities involved in a project’s lifecycle, including related activities, press coverage, publications, datasets and impact.
- Acknowledge the team involved in a project, including technical colleagues and project managers (amongst others).
Whilst only UKRI projects will automatically be made visible, researchers can also make any of their Project records publicly visible if they choose to.
