16 Sep 2025

Bursary funding available to attend KTP2025 Conference, marking 50 years of one of the UK’s longest running and most successful innovation programmes - application deadline: Wednesday, 24 September.

2025 marks 50 years of Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) a landmark celebration of one of the UK’s longest running and most successful innovation programmes.

For half a century, KTP has helped businesses thrive by connecting them with academic expertise to drive innovation, solve real-world challenges, and deliver meaningful impact.

The KTP2025 Conference – at the Kimpton Hotel, Manchester, 29-30 October 2025 – will bring together a diverse community of practitioners, academics, researchers and policy makers to celebrate this legacy and explore the future of collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Applications are now open for bursary funding to support attendance at the KTP2025 Conference – the deadline is 5pm on Wednesday, 24 September.

The bursary is made available through the University’s UKRI Impact Acceleration Account (Inclusive Innovation Fund) to enable early career academics and those statistically from under-represented groups in academia to benefit from the opportunities offered by the conference.

Why apply?

The KTP2025 Conference provides a unique platform to develop skills in networking, influencing, and presenting research to external audiences; gain a deeper understanding of REF Impact, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP), and Intellectual Property (IP); and build enthusiasm and confidence for engaging and collaborating with businesses, charities, public sector organisations, and other external partners.

Application details

Applications are open to early career academics at the University of Manchester; colleagues from under-represented groups in academia (self-identification optional); those who are newcomers to external engagement or with limited prior experience of collaboration.

The bursary will cover full conference registration costs.

Application deadline: Wednesday, 24 September at 5pm.

Applicants will be asked to provide basic eligibility information; a short statement of motivation and expected benefits from attending; reflections on how conference learning will be applied in future research, teaching, or engagement activities.

Applications will be assessed using a fair and transparent process, with priority given to those who meet the stated criteria.
