17 Jul 2025

Simple, high-impact actions to help you promote your research and raise your profile

Researcher checklist

Whether you're new to promoting your research or looking to sharpen your strategy, the University’s new Researcher Checklist – how to promote your research offers practical steps to help you raise your profile, share your work more widely, and support the University’s research reputation.

From quick wins like updating your email signature to high-impact activities like writing for The Conversation, the checklist is grouped by time commitment – so you can start small or go big.

Promoting your research can open doors to new collaborations, increase your citations, enhance your visibility across internal and external networks, and help attract new Postgraduate researchers and funding. It helps ensure your work gets the recognition it deserves.

Vice-President for Research, Professor Colette Fagan said: “Our Researcher Checklist is designed to make it easy for you to increase your research profile with a step-by-step guide, including how to use social media effectively if you choose to do so.

“Many of the steps only take a few minutes to complete – do take a look.  Each step that you take will help raise your profile, and in doing so will enhance the reputation of your department and our University.”
